Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The typical Mexican restaurant. The food Tastes the same as pretty much any other Mexican restaurant. Nachos across the street has about the same quality food. It typically has a more upbeat atmosphere because everyone in lake Stevens has their parties here. The interior is pretty nice. If you feel like Mexican food, this is a pretty conservative place to go. I've never had a bad meal.

Been here a few times. Good burritos, overpriced fajitas, but service is amazing. They keep the drinks and chips coming.

Got carne asada takeout with a friend, and it hit the spot. Pros? -Tender meat -Fast service -Pricing is average for the area -If you want extra meat, it's seriously.... A LOT OF MEAT :-) Cons? -A little too salty for my taste

My wife and I we're traveling through the area on a getaway trip. Stopped for dinner here on the recommendation of a local shop owner. Very disappointed in the quality of the meal we were served. We ordered Shrimp fajitas and shredded Beef Nachos. Let's start with the Fajitas. 8 shrimps for $17? Really?? I realize that they aren't cheap, but 8? That size if shrimp comes in a two pound bag in the local grocery store for about $14. Gotta keep up the profit margin, but sheesh. And then there's the Nachos. When they came, we could see that they came with lots of what you order them for. Toppings! Lots of them, and good tasting too! Only thing was that there was perhaps a dozen chips on the entire plate. Had to ask for another basket of chips for it. If and when we come through the area again, I do not think we will be coming here for dinner.

We have been very loyal to this restaurant for many years because their food has always been good and the staff is always friendly... And tonight was good food and great service but it isn't the same anymore... About two months ago, on our last visit, we thought it was a fluke because they were busy but tonight confirmed that something is off. The ultra small portions brought us a smear of beans and a tablespoon of rice next to a very small pile of meat that was barely covered with sauce. Where we used to have something leftover for next day, we were left feeling like we didn't even have a full dinner. This especially hits home when you get the bill for $60+ for 2 adults and one child (who all drank water,) tax and tip additional. I completely understand that food costs go up and prices need to go up too but you can't charge more and give much less.

Seriously, don't bother. I've had friends who have worked here, and I can't even tell all the disgusting things that go on "behind closed doors". Plus the food isn't that good, It's more of "Amaricanized" Mexican cuisine, not authentic at all.

Not a bad mexican place for a small town. I got the cheese enchilada combo and everything tasted good. I like the salsa too, but wish they brought out a bigger portion. Waitstaff was attentive and the place was busy, even at 4pm on a Saturday. I didn't really care for the atmosphere. The tables looked a little dirty and the place could use a renovation. I also didn't like that there isn't an a la carte menu for smaller portions. The food was great though! I'd come back here next time I'm in the area...I'll just make sure I come on an empty stomach so I can eat a big plate!

For what is offered in the area I guess I can push it to a 3 star, however, I was not a big fan. The service was mediocre. The margarita tasted like straight fruit juice. The food and salsa was incredibly salty. Being from San Diego I am pretty picky about Mexican food and this just wasn't worth what it cost to me.

  • Nick C.

I have tried to eat here sooooo many times, but I always end up very disappointed. The beef burrito had such a small amount of meat in it, that the tortilla was wrapped around it 3 times, so each bite was a whole lot of dough and a little teeny bit of filling. The bag of chips had maybe 20 chips in it. The only good thing about this place is the salsa, weak !!!! review helps others learn about great local businesses. Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees.I

Authentic and family-owned. I brought my brother with me to IXTAPA because he had been looking for a legit Mexican food spot in the area. He was pleased indeed! They've got great service, but you expect that because their dining room and bar are fully packed all the time... so they kind of have to be good at it! Everything was delicious but DAMN my $8.99 lunch IXTAPA burrito order crept up to $14.99 when I subbed beef for steak! I didn't know it was going to be the price of another lunch dish just to substitute steak. I know I'm going to go back because the food is clean-your-plate delicious, so I can't be too mad. See you there!

  • Dianne A.

I came here with my spouse and inlaws and wasn't particularly impressed. The food was certainly delicious! But the service was slow and for the price you really don't get much food. I was satisfied but my husband and FIL were still hungry. FIL also ordered a chicken dish and ended up with beef, for which the server was not very concerned. They knocked 2$ off the bill for his trouble, so I guess that was nice? For the high price and the low amount of food you get, I think next time we'll pass on Ixtapa.

Best Mexican food in town! $1 tacos and beer Monday and Tuesday all day in the bar They also have GREAT tortilla soup and seafood plates - and the best skinny margarita I've ever had The employees make you feel at home Great food-great prices-fun for everyone

Parking was easy for us. We only waited 2 minutes to be seated. I had the arroz con pollo, my favorite. It was very good. My daughter chose chicken nuggets and we were happy to see real chicken. Not compressed cardboard nuggets. We all left full and happy. The staff was very attentive and you can tell they work hard. We felt genuinely appreciated for the business.

Always terrific service and good food. Walked in 10 minutes after closing and was greeted with a smile and a wave to come in and sit down. Enjoyed the chimi and enchiladas - and a delightful waitress. They locked the doors behind us - with the same smile and wave. Tipped big in appreciation!

I'm giving this place 2 stars for service speed and cleanliness. I dislike giving bad reviews but I agree with Chelle I, mexican food should taste mexican, with lots of flavor. And if you are going to spend your money here you should be informed. All of us at the table agreed, the food was extremely bland, and we won't be returning. No one at the table recieved even close to the seasoned meat that you expect from mexican food, tasted like none at all or salt and pepper. Mexican rice that is normally no where near a white color because it's so seasoned, but what we all got was pretty close to just plain white rice. My biggest let down was the Guacamole.... it was the prepackaged stuff that tastes fake! A corner stone to mexican food is guacamole and this stuff tasted like the freezerd plastic bag it came out of. Oh, and it cost $3.50, if your going to charge that much for a tiny amount, it should have been made in there own kitchen. So disappointed because I love guac. Last dislike of the meal, was the iced tea. How could you mess up unsweetened ice tea you ask? I'm not sure how they accomplished this but it tasted like moldy water with a hint of pepsi. Gross and really odd. +++ The plus's of this establishment+++ Very clean. Decor was pleasant. Ton of staff! Fairly quick service. Seemed to be popular as it was filled by many customers. (Some people really enjoy bland food, everyone has different tastes)

Oi vie! How I'd love to rate this restaurant 5 stars, but alas, I cannot. Unfortunately, in terms of food, this Ixtapa is just like any other Ixtapa. They have consistent, bland tasting food. In continuation, their food is normally pretty pricy. My mother and I went there today, and our bill only came to $26, however, we were very conscious to make sure that we had no substitutes and only ordered water. Anywho, on to the positives! Normally I wouldn't be so generous with stars for a restaurant with such mediocre food, but this Ixtapa has excelled in all other areas. Their customer service is on point. Today our waitress was a little speedy with us, but she did tell us to take our time and was very nice. The restaurant is very clean. They've also done a great job of mixing colorful Mexican decor and classy elements for a refreshing blend of culture and style. What really convinced me to give them four stars was their tortilla maker! Undoubtably not the correct name for the machine, but I loved it! I've posted a picture and it may seem silly, but this little personal touch really made them stand out. Every kid that passed it was engulfed in curiosity and the woman running it was patient in answering questions!

  • Jesse A.

Loved it, only thing that makes me a little upset was that the tacos I ordered were made with a taco shell that looks like it came from a box. Come on, I would go to taco bell if I wanted that. Wheres the authentic Mexican tortilla??

    (4)
  • Brynn L.

We go here often as it is very close to our house. The service staff is very nice and often give free fresh tortillas to our toddler son. The food is always food, especially the carne asada! We don't usually have to wait very long either.

I'm a huge fan of ixtapa. I'm from Monroe and have frequented that restaurant for most of my life. My husband and I moved to lake stevens and we're excited to find another ixtapa. Definitely not as good, food wise or customer service wise, as Monroe. However, the food was still yummy and I'm happy it's close to home. If you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, this probably isn't for you, it's definitely Americanized.

    (3)
  • John A.

food was average at best, service was pretty good, but they don't understand mild salsa, twice they brought us warm enchilada sauce to dip chips in 2 separate visits.

    (2)
  • Todd H.

We always have great service at Ixtapa in lake Stevens, but we went tonight and they were packed. Still, they got us seated quickly and the service was fantastic! Good food too

    (5)
  • Nick F.

When I lived in Lake Stevens, I would come here about once a week. The quality and service you receive is unlike anything I've ever experienced. The waiters are amazing and the atmosphere is very warm. Food is great, and the salsa is the BEST I've tasted.

    (5)
  • Darin R.

Mario is the servers name you should ask for. Best service and best food hands down the Chile the best in town everything was good

  • Chelle I.

I want to give this restaurant a decent rating but I just can't. Service was okay, but the food was just so blah and portions were so small! Ordered their sirloin taco, and the meat was rubbery, and charged us extra for sour cream and a teaspoon of guacamole, which should came with this dish anyhow. Their Ixtapa burrito with shredded beef was just awful! For a sixty dollar worth of food, we should've gone somewhere else. Worst Mexican food ever! Definitely not coming back!

Quiet lunch today. Hot chips. Fast friendly service. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Consistent quality is what I always find here.

Go here often. Friendly staff, quick service and good food. We often take friends. They have room for larger groups. The manager comes around often to check on people.

Great Mexican food in the northeast! I'm from California so I went on a limb here getting Mexican food outside of the California region. I've had many sub par experiences across the United States that do not meet the Mexican flavors. This place exceeded my expectations from the get go. Before we were seated they already had the chips and salsa at the table (one of my favorite starters). I ordered the #5 plate and it was on point!!! The meat tasted just like home. The staff was extremely friendly and the service was quick. The waiters ran around the restaurant satisfying all of the customers in the busy restaurant. They were fast at processing all of our requests. The experience overall was great and can't wait until I make it over here again.

We just ate here again at the Snohomish branch last night and really enjoyed it. We have been loyal fans of the chain for over 25 years now, all the way back to its inception in Duvall and Carnation. I wonder how many thousands of dollars we have given them through the years, but they are doing it right and we keep coming back for more!

  • Alexcia T.

Excellent food! Friendly staff every visit and food is on point every time! The bar has great specials daily!

  • Kathryn L.

Ixtapa is a must whenever I am in the Lake Stevens area! Their chicken burrito's a la crema is as good as it gets and the service is always quick, friendly, and professional! I've been known to just stop in for some beans (best I have had this side of the border) and tortillas and relive my summers spent down in Mexico. Definitely one of my favorites. I take my own guests there and would recommend them to anyone!

Yummy food, excellent service, and a decent price, what else could you want from a Mexican food restaurant?

My fave Mexi joint in the area. Longtime family run business, good food, good drinks! Usually the servers here are fantastic. A local favorite.

A solid Mexican restaurant. Really friendly with the kids - even brought out fresh tortillas for them to enjoy before the meal.

I'm really torn about how to rate this restaurant. We've lived in Lake Stevens for nearly 11 years and have only eaten here a few times, preferring to drive into Everett to go to El Paraiso. Tonight I didn't want to take the time to cross the trestle so we decided to give them another shot. The service is worthy of 5 stars. In this department they have El Paraiso beat. The food... the quality was excellent. Another 5 star rating. The flavors, more of a 3 star. The prices are very high for what you get. Two meals, an appetizer, and one soda was almost $60. I have to drop a star for that. And I have to drop a star because: I ordered the same thing I get at El Paraiso, half chicken and half beef fajitas. No problem at El Paraiso, here I was told they "charge a little extra for that." As it turns out, that little extra was $7. I don't consider over 40% to be a "little extra." As it turns out, they won't do half and half like I requested, what they do is double meat. If the waiter had told me that I would have just picked a meat as I'm a small eater and can't generally manage even half of a normal order. Paying an extra $7 for double meat was ridiculous for me. We also weren't too crazy about the queso with chorizo appetizer. We expected it to be a dip but it's actually a big bowl of melted semi-hard cheese. It's too hard to dip your chips into. Even using a fork, you have to hang on to the bowl and cut a piece out to put on a chip. We weren't really sure what we were supposed to do with this so I brought it home to make something good with. The bottom line is, next time I want Mexican food, I'm going across the trestle.

Simply A-OK. I was here for a birthday dinner a few weekends ago and ordered their nachos along with a pina colada. The nachos were alright. It didn't seem to have a lot of the STUFF or as I would also call it the GOODIES. There was a lot of cheese which I didn't mind but it would have been better with more chicken, salsa etc. It almost felt... too cheesy. I know, crazy. What's wrong with a nacho being too cheesy? I guess it was just me! The pina colada, on the other hand, was not too shabby. I'd possibly consider coming back someday just to try their other entrees!

  • Holly E.

Very good Mexican. Meat was cooked perfectly and full of flavor and tortillas are made on premises and super fresh. 4 stars only because the waiter was a little abrupt.

    (4)
  • Shane M.

My boys and I have been coming here for more than 15 years. Good cold beer, excellent friendly service and the kitchen is fast. One of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to. One of my favorite dishes is the "No Name"-cheesy, chicken or beef and sour cream and guacamole on the side, yummm!

    (5)
  • Sarah F.

Go here for the great service, stick around for the above average Mexican food, fresh tortillas, and kid-friendly restaurant. It gets a little conversation-loud in here, but not so much that you can't be heard talking. Haven't tried the drinks, but on weekend nights I have seen the bar hopping.

    (4)
  • Dew D.

I always get the crane asada and it delivers on flavor with fire grilled flank steak and fresh to order tortillas. Outside of that it's pretty average fair. I only really go when others want to. If I'm going to suggest an outing I would not take ppl to Ixtapa for a great time.

    (3)
  • Brittany G.

The food was good we were expecting the food to be similar to the Ixtapa in Duvall and it wasn't, Duvall Ixtapa is where it's at! Good food but could be better.

  • Perri S.

I used to eat at the "old" Ixtapa before they moved...I experienced a "bad manager' incident and stopped visiting at that time. Well, with that said, I stopped in for a "take out" order. Wow! Expensive, Bland, and small portions! Oh, well the exception was the SALTY salsa...there must have been a measuring incident in the kitchen. I had to add two diced tomatoes, cilantro, onion, and jalapeno to balance out all of the SALT. The "spanish rice" should have been labeled "white rice" as there was no evidence of any contact with any veggies..no speck of tomato, onion or any normal spanish rice ingredient. The place has a pleasant decor....I guess that is how they justify the expensive prices. This is NOT the place for flavorful, fairly priced food.

    (1)
  • Nakia K.

The food at Ixtapa was average. My carne asada was pretty chewy but had decent flavor. Service was great. The salsa was very tasty. I would maybe come back during happy hour for appetizers and drinks.

    (3)
  • Anthony B.

Normally very awesome, tonight horrible. After bringing out the wrong drinks, wrong meal, wrong side on two dishes, server just said sorry I've been working since 6am. Again normally not this bad, but steer clear tonight.

  • Isaac W.

My family's favorite local eatery of any variety. Good price selection, great complimentary chips and salsa, and generous portions. Service is always good, and everything feels authentically Mexican and genuinely friendly. Even on busy nights. I love the Acapulco burrito, the pollo con crema, and when I'm just wanting a snack I order the No Name.

    (5)
  • Stephanie M.

Ixtapa burrito is the bomb. The mild salsa is gross. I would love it if they made a mild salsa that is actually salsa instead of a hot soup. The staff is amazing, and the food is always good. Best Mexican food in snohomish county!

  • Skyler L.

Lived in Lake Stevens for 16 years and have been eating here since day 1. Service is always quick and efficient. Staff is always welcoming. My personal favorite is the fish tacos with a side of lime, but I have yet to find a dish I didn't enjoy. All the tortillas are made fresh for your meal and it shows. Superb quality. Recommend for anyone looking to have a delicious Mexican dinner. Took my family visiting from England here and they absolutely loved it.

  • Danny L.

I love this restaurant. The home made tortillas are awesome and they go great with the excellent guacamole. The service is very good and they make you feel important. Don't miss the Carne Asada! It's as good as it gets.

  • Max T.

I've been eating at Ixtapa's since I was a kid and now am taking my kids. The food and service are always great and the owners treat their employees like family. Ixtapa's is a cornerstone of the Lake Stevens community because they consistently make you feel that you got more than you paid for. My favorite: chicken Ixtapa burrito.

    (5)
  • Jae H.

This restaurant has a very authentic feeling. I loved the murals painted on the walls, chips and salsa waiting on the table and the corn tortilla making station in the middle of the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helped a lot with our food allergies. The food was delicious and piping hot when we got our meals. They have many options for everyone!

    (4)
  • Josh T.

Love this place! The owners know us from our repeat business and even remember our kids' names! Great deals in the bar every day and literally the BEST salsa I've had in my journeys around this country. Food is average Mexican-american cuisine but what is lost in not being uber- supreme gourmet excellence is made up for in uber-supreme customer service! Often busy and rarely a dissatisfied customer. They did have an ecoli issue about 10 yrs ago but that is way fine and we've never had issues. Ever. Highly recommended!

Worst experience at a restuarant that I have ever experienced! It was a Friday night , extremely busy.. which is great right ? Little bit of a wait, which is understood and OK with the anticipation of good service and food. When we were seated we were promptly served with chips and salsa etc. We ordered the steak fajitas , and the seafood burrito ( shrimp , crab etc. ) . Fast service , great! The steak fajitas tasted as it was aged and past it's expiration date, the seasoning was chalky (too much) , it had a strange taste to it, the skilllet wasn't even sizzling when it was brought to the table, which suggests not so fresh. I took two bites of my burrito and all I can taste was onions , I cut the burrito open and it was filled with cooked onions and few bay shrimp and specks of what might be imitation crab. Paying a minimum of $17.00 a plate , plus a long island ice tea, Cadillac margarita. You would think the food would be at a higher quality. We explained to the waiter our issue with the food and asked to speak to a manager. An older gentleman approached us and asked "what's wrong"?. We explained how the steak tasted and showed him the inside of the burrito. He response was " No one else has complained about our food tonight" he seemed agitated that we complained. We told him we were not going to pay that amount for rotten steak and an onion burrito. We showed him and even offered him to taste his own product he was serving. He declined. Within 1 min he took everything off our table and gave us the dinner ticket.... table completely empty. No joke! Not another word was spoken to us , and even the waiter that had been polite in the beginning of the service changed his demeanor with us as well!!! WOW!!!! We were so set back , we stared at eachother in disbelief! GREAT WAY TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS! IT WAS EMBARRASSING! We were polite in the whole situation, and for us having an issue, we were basically told to get out. We did only pay for the drinks. But to treat us as we should be honored to eat his food is Ludacris. Not good business sense. I will be telling every to avoid ixtapa like the plague! Crap food and Crap service ,especially from a manager. Don't eat there , the food is DEFINITELY not worth your hard earned money. How about 0 stars!

I come here wayyy more than I care to admit! We love Eddie and Martha but the service is always fantastic! Their bar specials are great and such good deals... Their inner and lunch is amazing too . Best chips and salsa around... Their mild sauce is to die for as well. We never get sick of this place :)

I've been coming to Ixtapa since before I can remember, and well before I was of legal drinking age. I rarely look at the menu any more (#32 with a Picadillo Chimichanga and a cheese enchilada is my go-to 90% of the time). The Ixtapa burrito and chili Colorado are also favorites of mine Ixtapa is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Ever. Seriously. It holds a soft spot in my heart and reminds me of home. Not only has the quality of the food remained the same over the years, but the service continues to be flawless and CRAZY fast. It is entirely possible to sit, eat some chips (and the best salsa in the PNW), order, have 2 beers, and eat until you're in a coma and be out in 30 minutes. Not to mention, 99 cent tacos on Monday and Tuesday. Ixtapa will not let you down.

I was having lunch here this weekend and realized I hadn't done a Yelp review. There are A LOT of Mexican/American style places in Lake Stevens. Ixtapa is the best of them. The food is always consistent. The service is great. Their tortillas are fantastic. Yesterday I split an order of the shrimp fajitas. It was perfectly executed and the fresh tortillas just made it that much better. The place is clean, has high ceilings, so it doesn't feel cramped at all. The decor is great. The servers are helpful and well trained. If in Lake Stevens searching for this type of food it doesn't get better than Ixtapa in the area.

Chips and salsa are the best! Also, Eddie is a great bartender. I love coming here with my family. No one bats an eye when my ten year old son orders the House Special (No Name) appetizer as an entree. It is delicious! They all know us by name and it is fabulous.

I love everything about Ixtapa in Lake Stevens. The staff is great my family has been going there for years. The chips and salsa are always fresh and the food is always amazing. I highly recommend this place to everyone

  • Earl G.

I really do love this place... Great food and very friendly staff. Very kid friendly It gets a little crowded at the rush hour times now that the (other place) in the complex closed down. This truly how you run a restaurant... The owner walks around asking how the food is, saying hello to the children, and if ANYTHING isn't right it is fixed in a heartbeat. The servers seem to work here for a very long time (several years at least). Not sure what training they give, but I know that each server knows exactly what I like after serving me once... It is always our first choice of restaurants in Lake Stevens.

Good Mexican food, good service and decent prices. The owners are good people and they remember you when you come back. I come here fairly regularly and the quality is consistent and doesn't disappoint.

Their special (shredded pork tacos type of thing) was really good. Homemade tortillas were just so good, and they had $2 corona too. I ordered something else when we came back for the 2nd time. I think it was fish taco? and it was alright, not great. Chips and salsa are good though!

  • Lorna P.

$.99 beer and tacos on Mondays and Tuesdays.... Amazing! Here's the real reason I love Ixtapa, they are so accomodating! We have a little standing tradition with some friends of ours for Monday night dinner at Ixtapa, typically the bar is packed and our friends have a baby so the bar is really out of the question. All we have to do is ask, and the owner is more than willing to give us the bar specials in the restaurant, it's never been an issue. Next, the food is great! Yes, it's Mexican, so nothing is really outside the box with the food, but its good! We have tried some other local Mexican restaurants and been disappointed. Great local dinner spot!

    (5)
  • Casey H.

Sold performer without a doubt. They make their own tortillas from scratch so the soft tacos are outstanding. Lots of weekly specials affordable and quality. Smaller bar with high quality TVs. Service is above average excellent most of the time. Lots of hustle and effort.

Love this place! Been coming here for years. Fast, friendly service, and treated like family. Food comes out fast , hot and yummy. Best chips and salsa around. You won't be disappointed.

  • Kristin B.

I've been to Ixtapa many, many times in the past but forgot just how delicious this place is! Although the one in Lake Stevens is in a strip mall, that doesn't take away from the fact that their food is fabulous. The server was prompt and friendly for being so busy the night before Thanksgiving. I ordered a shrimp fajita burrito that came with rice and beans and had a yummy margarita to wash it down. The burrito was probably one of the best things I've had in a VERY long time! I was blown away and literally ate until I was going to explode! I highly recommend that everyone give Ixtapa a try. You won't be disappointed!

  • K W.

LOVE IT! I have been going there for the past 10 years and have never gotten bad food or bad service. They have great prices that get even better at lunchtime. The owner and his wife always come over and greet our table, the servers are polite and attentive. The salsa and chips are the best I've had anywhere, and the Ixtapa burrito is hard to beat. Went there for my 21st birthday, my bachelorette party and they are very accommodating for larger groups. My mother in law and her friend go there every week on their lunch break and when she has to take her 2 year old with her, they always give her a free little cheese quesadilla (for the past 2 years!). Obviously patronage is very important to them :)

I gave this restaurant 5 stars for affordability....AND great food. I've been in there several times for lunch and you cannot beat their $5.00 lunch specials. You get a whole plate of food, plus bottomless chips and salsa for 5 dollars!! The salsa deserves its own paragraph, I felt bad for my waiter because I kept asking for refills! It is a delicious pico de gallo type salsa and they go heavy on the cilantro (which I love!). The chips are made at the restaurant and are about what you would expect (nothing too special, but the salsa makes up for it!) I had the Ixtapa burrito with white cheese sauce (go with the chicken, server recommeded) and it was delicious. I am definitely going back!

First time here dinner with friends won't come again. Food was ok nothing special. Asked for mild salsa and was brought burrito/enchilada sauce. Place is loud like you're in a cafeteria. Service was mediocre

Tried Ixtapa for the first time for dinner. I wasn't wowed, but it was still a good meal. The restaurant was busy with a 15 minute wait on a Friday night. We sat next to an 18th birthday party of 50 so service was a little rough. Chips and Salsa were good while we waited for our entrees. These came fairly quickly - the wait for a server to greet our table took longer than getting our entrees! I ordered the Camarones A La Crema - prawns sautéed in butter with mushrooms in a cream sauce and served with rice, beans and tortillas. I enjoyed this dish. Prawns were good size, cream sauce was delicious and the corn tortillas were made fresh. My husband had the Steak Fajitas which was also good. We were disappointed with the Two Enchiladas and Taco (#36) - Taco was small and Enchiladas were nothing special. We did see dishes on the menu that we have not had before so we will definitely be back to try more.

Favorite Mexican place in Lake Stevens. We always receive a greeting from Eddie or his father. Very friendly people and very good food.

Had the no-name burrito, which was good. Good margaritas. Good chips and salsa. Service was friendly and efficient. About what we expected for a chain-franchise type restaurant.

Love coming here with my boyfriend. The food is good and the prices are very fair. Especially dollar beer and taco night. The tortillas are made fresh to order as well!!

Generally good food, family recipes and they seem to vary from location to location....personally we stick to the one by us in Lake Stevens and it honestly is the best one. I wish they would reconsider how they make their homemade tortillas as they are dry and floury....but the salsa is excellent (I could live on it alone) and 98 percent of the time the service is stellar.

Decided to stop in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. We hadn't been in this area for about 4 years and looked forward to an old stand-by. Uh, yuck! This place has really gone down hill. The food was awful, the interior seemed worn and slightly grungy, and we were greatly disappointed. My fish taco was a joke (tiny piece of breaded fish smashed up and way too much sauce so the tortilla was a soggy mess) and my boyfriend's chimichanga looked like it has been sitting out for a very long time. Avoid.

This is my go-to spot! Great margaritas and the best chips and salsa you can get! Dine in the bar if you're over 21. You will be able to take advantage of great food and drink specials and super friendly bartenders! Try the chicken tortilla soup is BOMB!

The interior is standard Mexican restaurant style, but the chicken fajitas are amazing. Great drink specials. This is the only Mexican restaurant I will dine at in North America...and that includes you Mexico!

Great Food, Great Service.....What can I say it is Great! Chips and salsa are amazing and the bean dip is too! I have never had a bad meal there. The best tortilla soup and the shrimp salad is great too! I did order a Vodka Martini straight up with an olive and they did not know how to make one. It came with a green onion...had to explain a green olive and they went next door to try to find them. :-) Too cute...so, I had it straight up...without the onion. Next time Margarita , they know those WELL.

This is my FAVORITE Mexican Restaurant...this location over all the other Ixtapa's, too, because this one's got the best Flan for dessert :) I'm sorry to hear they had an E.coli scare, & I have to mention that I've NEVER even had an upset stomach after eating here... and I've been eating at this restaurant for over 15 years. They have the BEST burrito called the Ixtapa Burrito (I like it with chicken in it), and we've even come here for Holidays because they have really fast service & awesome food.

Great family restaurant and great bar. Very friendly service and awesome specials - how can you beat $.99 tacos or beers on Tuesdays? Other dishes are good too! I will be there this Tuesday for my taco fix for sure.

Always accomodating and the food gets better each time. Plus the electric ice tea is amazing. I am editing this down to two stars because of the service we have received the last few times we were there. We would go to Ixtapa every Monday night with our good friends. We have a baby and they were always accomodating of giving us the $1 beer/taco deal that was offered in the bar (since we used to do it in the bar before baby came along). All of a sudden one Monday night they were very rude and told us we could no longer do this. We went again the following Monday night and were refused to get the deal. I know they were probably losing money on offering their special in the restaurant, however, they could have conveyed this in a very different way. The next time we ate Mexican we chose a different restaurant and are reluctant to return to Ixtapa. We have been weekly customers for a very long time and thought our patronage was more important to them, however, it was proven that they could care less.

I went to Ixtapa for dinner and loved it. The service and food were amazing. The servers were attentive and got the chips and salsa, drinks and our food out in a timely manner. We never had to ask for refills; once a drink was low, we were offered a refill. The chips were crisp and warm, and their salsa was a tiny bit spicy. I decided to try the pomegranate mojito and I liked it. I ordered a platter with chicken sauted with mushrooms and onions over Spanish rice and it was so delicious I wished I could eat it all in one sitting. I believe it was the #9 but I could be wrong. Overall I loved the service and the food. It's a bit more pricey than the taquerias I am accustomed to (I spent $35-40 for 2 people) but it's a great place to sit down and eat.

This is the branch that got an E.coli scare this week, but they cleaned it up. I'd give it a couple weeks.

ive been going to ixtapa forever! it is high priced but it WAS worth it! now its gross and over priced...for the food that they are serving. my boyfriend and i went out, i ordered what i alwayssss get carne asada tacos/ worst idea, my meat was still red! how can you make carne asada red?! and my rice and beans were cold. my boyfriends fajitas had of course, zero chicken, we waited and waited for our server to come by, always knowing that 5 mins after getting your food they check up on you, i swear we waited 10 mins and then we flagged down someone, they did take off my meal...they were lucky i didn't complain about having to wait for 10minutes and that's why i didn't want them to remake my food, i just wanted to leave. i think this place is going downhill, things have gotten to this family's head already. i hope they fix things, soon. but from now on im going to PAPA'S & BEER!

We decided to give this place a try thought they were shut down for a bit with an E coli breakout. The food was terrible. My dish was so salty I could only eat a little of it and my boyfriends fajitas were saturated in so much grease it was actually soggy. Maybe they were having an off day in the kitchen but I will never go back the food was disgusting.

I heart Ixtapa. They have the best Mexican food around. The service is super friendly. The food comes fast and hot. Happy Hour in the bar is great too. Cheap deals on good drinks and appetizers. Mondays & Tuesdays are the best days to go. All day (in the bar only) they have .99 cent hard shell tacos - ground beef or chicken- and .99 cent beers. I went and had 2 tacos and 2 Negro Especials for less than $5 bucks. That's the cheapest meal I have ever had that included alcohol! If you love Mexican food and decent prices then you should definitely visit this restaurant.

I'm from Marysville and it's worth it to make the trip out to Lake Stevens for Ixtapa when Mexican food is what you want. I'll admit that I'm not too creative when it comes to ordering different things, but when the enchiladas are so flawless, why bother? They make their own enchilada sauce and it is incredible, so different from the crap you buy in cans at the grocery store. The No-Names are super tasty, as is the Ixtapa burrito. They make the BEST salsa and pico de gallo, but they've only got one level of heat, so if you are sensitive to spiciness, be aware that since it's made fresh daily, the amount of heat can vary between visits. Although, ordering mild salsa will net you some of that tasty enchilada sauce, so I guess things could be worse. Service has always been super prompt and awesome when I've gone there and their lunch specials are really well priced. Pricing overall is very fair and comparable to other Mexican places in the area.

$10.99 for way too salty Chorizo Con Huevo and a thimble full of rice. My wife's griled chicken was disgusting as well. We wont be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
